I haven't found New York that changed in 10 years but of course there was an expected dramatic change!
I'm glad that I didn't see it earlier when it was still a total destruction and trauma site. Of course the memory of the atrocity is still here, the towers' absence is grueling. But there is now so much activity, so much energy to make the site shine again that seeing the site was bearable.
In fact there is not much to see in the "hole". I felt half ashamed to want to have a peek at it, almost like the drivers slowing down to see an crash site on the freeway.
I like this pic from the WTC transportation hub...
A few more pics/anecdotes from those last hours in New York. It was nice to see that even in NY there are Farmers Market. Being so far away from the country side children have to be educated on the simplest things of "nature":
Other good news, it looks like the "girls" are back ;)
I've always like the East Village, not fancy but with a rough energy. Rain spoiled the fun and it was surprising to see people waiting 1 or 1.5 hours, some under the rain to have a brunch on this simple and small place I had chosen.
The muffins looked great but I indulged myself with 2 Eggs Benedict on Petrossian Salmon and biscuit.
Delicatessen are so New York and Katz is one of the traditional ones
I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one depressed about the idea of dealing with all those Xmas gifts!
